He married Anna Dixon Hunt in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, United States, August 1925. (Anna Dixon Hunt is #10.) Anna was born in English, Crawford County, Indiana, United States November 10, 1900.⁽⁵⁹¹⁾ Anna was the daughter of Nathan Dixon Hunt and Estella Simpson. Anna died January 3, 1932 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, United States, at 31 years of age.⁽⁵⁹²⁾

John Robert Nicholas and Anna Dixon Hunt had the following children:

3 i. Martha Dixon³ Nicholas (#7) was born in Oak Park, Cook County, Illinois, United States July 27, 1926. She married Billy Jack Chaney in Greeley, Weld County, Colorado, United States, June 7, 1947. (Billy Jack Chaney is #6.) B.J. was born in Gorman, Eastland County, Texas, United States November 3, 1928. B.J. was the son of Columbus Jackson Chaney and Clara B Sparks. B.J. died December 29, 1997 in East Wenatchee, Grant County, Washington, United States, at 69 years of age. (See Billy Jack Chaney for the continuation of this line.)

5 iii. Anna Dixon Nicholas (#1134) was born in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, United States January 1932. Anna died 1932 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, United States, at less than one year of age.
