29. William⁵ Chaney (Moses⁴, Jacob³, Charles², Richard¹ Cheyney) (#1299) was born September 20, 1792.⁽⁹⁶⁾ William died February 19, 1876 at 83 years of age.⁽⁹⁷⁾

He married twice. He married Nancy Polly. (Nancy Polly is #1369.) He married Elizabeth Bradley. (Elizabeth Bradley is #1373.) William Chaney, the son of Margaret and Moses Chaney, was a farmer by ocupation He was born September 20, 1792, and died February 19,1876, age 83 years 5 months and 5 days. He was buried at his home place two miles southeast of Laurel Grove, Virginia, the place his son Beverly now lives. During William's lifetime he was married twice, first to Nancy Polly, and to this union were born three children - Willis C., Sallie Bird, and Calvin W. William's second wife's name was Elizabeth Bradley, and to them ten children were born as follows: Wilis, Martha, Jasper, William, Mary, Frances, Daniel S. Alfred, Beverly W., and Elizabeth. It will be seen that William reared thirteen children.

William Chaney and Elizabeth Bradley had the following children:

63 i. Wilis⁶ Chaney (#1374) was born on (birth date unknown).

64 ii. William Chaney (#1377) was born on (birth date unknown).

65 iii. Martha Chaney (#1375) was born December 22, 1824.⁽⁹⁸⁾ Martha died November 7, 1901 at 76 years of age.⁽⁹⁹⁾

66 iv. Jasper Chaney (#1376) was born March 1, 1827.⁽¹⁰⁰⁾ Jasper died December 27, 1875 at 48 years of age.⁽¹⁰¹⁾ Jasper N. Chaney, the son of Elizabeth and William Chaney, was born March 1, 1827 and died December 27, 1875. His age was 48 years, 9 months, and 26 days. He was buried at his father's old place, where he llived during his life. Jasper N. Chaney served in the War Between the States.

67 v. Mary A. Chaney (#1378) was born August 25, 1829.⁽¹⁰²⁾ Mary died March 7, 1907 at 77 years of age.⁽¹⁰³⁾

68 vi. Peggy Frances Chaney (#1379) was born October 5, 1831.⁽¹⁰⁴⁾ Peggy died June 6, 1894 at 62 years of age.⁽¹⁰⁵⁾

+ 69 vii. Daniel S. Chaney was born September 20, 1836.

70 viii. Elizabeth Chaney (#1383) was born August 10, 1839.⁽¹⁰⁶⁾

71 ix. Alfred A. Chaney (#1381) was born January 20, 1842.⁽¹⁰⁷⁾ Alfred died September 11, 1887 at 45 years of age.⁽¹⁰⁸⁾

+ 72 x. Beverly W. Chaney was born April 23, 1845.

William Chaney and Nancy Polly had the following children:

74 xii. Sallie Bird Chaney (#1371) was born December 12, 1817.⁽¹⁰⁹⁾ Sallie died July 2, 1851 at 33 years of age.⁽¹¹⁰⁾ She married Abraham Chaney, Jr. AFT 1835. (Abraham Chaney, Jr. is #1315.) Abraham was born in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, United States December 14, 1813.⁽¹¹¹⁾ Abraham was the son of Abraham Chaney and Nancy Dennison. Abraham died September 4, 1878 in Surry County, North Carolina, United States, at 64 years of age.⁽¹¹²⁾ (See Abraham Chaney, Jr. for the continuation of this line.)
