He married Mary Jane Dixon AFT 1864. (Mary Jane Dixon is #206.) Polly was born October 13, 1849.(543) Polly was the daughter of Daniel Gregg Dixon and Mary Jane Walker. Polly died June 29, 1898 at 48 years of age.(544) <-- "History of Greene and Sullivan Counties, Indiana" / 1884> "Passed his boyhood days upon his Father's farm and when 17 years old volunteered his services for the suppression of the rebellion in Company F, 149th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He served in Georgia and was mustered out of the services in Terre Haute, Indiana in 1865. J.W. INGERSOLL and MARY JANE DIXON were married in 1869 and to them have been born two children, D.A. and H.P. Miss DIXON, a daughter of DANIEL GREGG DIXON and MARY JANE WALKER who were among the first settlers of Greene County."
