He married Elizabeth Daniel. (Elizabeth Daniel is #1584.) Elizabeth was the daughter of John Daniel and Elizabeth. Elizabeth died BEF 1720.

John Bates and Elizabeth Daniel had the following children:

2 i. Ann² Bates (#1595) was born 1671.⁽¹⁶⁾ She married John Daniel AFT 1700. (John Daniel is #1608.) John was born 1685. John was the son of John Daniel and Mary Williams. John died November 1722 at 37 years of age.⁽¹⁷⁾ (See John Daniel for the continuation of this line.)

3 ii. James Bates (#1596) was born 1673.⁽¹⁸⁾

4 iii. George Bates (#1597) was born 1675.⁽¹⁹⁾

5 iv. John Bates (#1598) was born in York County, Virginia, North American Colonies 1685.⁽²⁰⁾ John died March 1, 1722/23 in York County, Virginia, North American Colonies, at 37 years of age.⁽²¹⁾ He married Susanna Fleming AFT 1705. (Susanna Fleming is #1599.) Susanna was born 1690.⁽²²⁾ Susanna died 1757 at 67 years of age.⁽²³⁾

6 v. Isaac Bates (#1613) was born 1687.⁽²⁴⁾ Isaac died December 1752 in Albermarie County, Virginia, North American Colonies, at 65 years of age.⁽²⁵⁾ He married Elizabeth. (Elizabeth is #1614.)

7 vi. Hannah Bates (#1615) was born 1689.
